Standout Lines:

"Knowing someone is understanding the why..."

“What you know about someone isn’t downloaded. It’s learned… organically, in different places and from different moments as we yell... pout... make up and find our way back.”

"Maybe one day, our paths will cross again.”
“What if they don’t?”
“Well, that doesn’t make this crossroad any less beautiful.”

From the Author:

Passionate. Intense. Brief. I’ve lived in 4 different countries and have traveled to over 40. I’ve been lucky enough to have fallen in love with some incredible people along the way. Then life would take me somewhere else and I’d leave love behind. Sometimes love left me.

“A Perfect Day” is about the hope and pain of a brief encounter. Romanticized and idealized, these brushes with love live on in our heads even after they are long over-- and could never be again.

In recording this episode, I was astounded by how Miller brought the story to life with his deep and sonorous voice. It’s a circular short and the closing lines echo the opening ones. But the difference in Miller’s delivery between the first time he speaks the words and the last time perfectly captures the suffering in Tom after he chooses to not let go of the woman of his dreams.

Sometimes, late at night, I still do the same.
